:::  Mihoko Hakata's BIO :::

MIHOKO HAKATA - artist & designer, writer, poet, wants to be a world traveler, yoga master + renaissance woman!

Born on January 1st, a Happy New Years baby! My mother called me "E.T." because I had big curious eyes and long fingers with lots of wrinkles. I love to smile at strangers, ever since I was a little girl. After graduating from Aoyama Gakuin University in Tokyo, I worked as a chief overseas event coordinator. I started to learn watercolor painting from the wonderful Japanese illustrator Makoto Nagasawa who became my mentor, which changed my life!
Summer of 1999, I visited New York City for the first time and fell in love with the New York Energy! In December 2001, I moved to New York City to pursue my career as an artist. I have received a BFA in illustration from School of Visual Arts in 2005. In September 2009, I moved to Boston to study Sustainability & Environmental Management at Harvard University Extension School and I am enjoying learning how to live in balance with our precious planet. I have been selling artworks and continue working as a freelance artist & designer. Recently my Dubai skyline illustration for Wassla Weekly received the Altpick Award Second Place! I love to share the beauty in reality through my artworks and communicating with art lovers has been such a wonderful experience. I would like to spread happiness and "Relax & Feel Good" energy all over the world!
